The WISE Series // Give Me Wisdom

Studies have shown that an average adult makes an average of 35,000 conscious decisions each day.

From minor to major decisions, we all need to make decisions in life to get us somewhere. Making decisions can be easy for some people, others tend to take a longer time and find it difficult to make up their minds. Nonetheless, decisions need to be made and we often hope and pray we make them with wisdom.

Wisdom is complex. But you have the power to make it simple. In its fullness, wisdom embodies knowledge, experience, skills and a drop of incomprehensible brilliance. No matter how hard you try, you will make decisions based on either your knowledge on a certain topic, your experience in life or a skill that you have honed, but rarely do we make decisions with the fullness of wisdom.

Having wisdom does not mean you are always right; in many cases, that’s subjective. Making wise decisions is an antidote to that particular situation or season you are in. That decision you make can last you a few days of good returns, some years and some even generations.

As we progress in life, there are tons of decisions we need to make – career, relationships, family, finances, education, religion, citizenship. Those are the heavyweights compared to lighter ones like deciding where to eat, what to wear, who to meet, and so on. Heeding wisdom in all things is the wisest decision.

To gain wisdom, we ought to be hungry for it, to ask for it, to seek it out. It requires strict discipline, good character, the right counsel and the right spirit.

WIP as I am, I still hope to unpack several elements of making wise decisions in our lives through “The WISE Series”. Uncover the various key components that will guide us in making the wisest of decisions, in the good and the toughest of times.
